Activities:
  • As we waited for everyone to arrive, the girls colored a Chinese Zodiac calendar. I got the picture from this site (but we just treated it as a coloring page, not as a craft with the plate.)
  • We ate snacks we read about in the book: mini cereal boxes and wontons.
  • We read Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni. 
  • We made tangrams and did practiced making different pictures using the pieces. I found printable tangrams online here and printed on cardstock, and I got some sample pictures the girls could make from here and here.
  • We did a reader's theater.
