- We ate snacks related to the book: vanilla yogurt, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (without crust), and hostess cupcakes (with the white swirl in the middle--since they looked skunk-ish).
- I handed out skunk stuffed animals. (I got them from Oriental Trading--the red T-shirts are removable.) The girls each thought of a name for their skunk (Thor or a name from the book or their own idea) and made a bead collar for their skunk using string and letter beads (both from the Dollar Tree). I also gave each girl a strip of T-shirt fabric to tie together at the top to make a sling for the skunk. (Basically we just cut an old T-shirt into long strips that were wider in the middle and thinner at the edges.)
- We watched a YouTube video about skunks (and Dr. Jerry Dragoo!).
- We browsed juvenile nonfiction books about skunks and shared favorite facts.
